A MARVEL OF NATURE

Featuring rolling hills, scenic views, and loads of wildlife, Driftless Ranch is truly a one-of-a-kind destination.

Several times during the ice ages, glaciers flowed out of Canada, sometimes reaching as far south as the Ohio and Missouri rivers. During recent glaciations, Southwestern Wisconsin was untouched, because the glaciers were diverted to the east or west by the highlands of North-Central Wisconsin and Northwestern Michigan.

Here in the Driftless Area, you see a rugged landscape with deep valleys and rocky crags. Much of the Midwest would look like this today if it had not been glaciated, but the ice sheets smoothed those areas by eroding away the crags and filling in the valleys.

The Driftless Area was never completely surrounded by ice, and the glaciers reached only its eastern edge during the last glacial episode. At that time, about 15,000 years ago, the Wisconsin River was dammed by the glacier, and the sediment deposited in the glacial Lake Wisconsin formed the flats between Tomah, Wisconsin Dells, and Wisconsin Rapids. Then, the Driftless Area was treeless and had a tundra climate.

    Driftless ranch not only has scenic views but an unbelievable amount of hunting property. I was taken on a tour of the ranch to see the work put in by the incredible staff to make this property fulfill your dreams of taking mature trophy animals. The lodge is an incredible place for people of all ages with entertainment not only indoors but outdoors as well.     One word can describe our stay at the Driftless Ranch-AMAZING!! We were greeted by the Ranch Manager Bibi. He was so accommodating and kind. He was on site for any questions of our stay. Driftless Ranch is a little slice of heaven. I don’t even know where to begin. The views from every angle of the house are breathtaking. Sitting on the porch was so peaceful listening to the wildlife. This place has something for everyone. Whether you want to do a guys trip for hunting or a family trip. Inside the house you will find a game room in the lower level. My kids are older (in their twenties) and they hung out with all the guys down there playing the arcade games. I couldn’t get them up for dinner! The bedrooms are amazing and are furnished with the most comfortable beds. We slept like angels! I can’t forget about the amazing pool/hot tub area. After attending our concerts, we would come back and get a group volleyball game going. Again-AMAZING! The movie theater is also a dream. Furnished with recliner seats, we sat in there and watched a movie on Netflix. So relaxing and comfortable. I can go on and on about Driftless Ranch. Words can not describe the beauty of this piece of property. Tucked away in the hills, Driftless Ranch is the perfect place to escape the chaos of everyday life. There is a nice walking trail that you can take all the views on at. I promise you, you will not be disappointed with your stay at Driftless Ranch.
